I was getting ready for work this morning when an sms arrived. I thought it was Ryan but it came from someone not in my phonebook. Akala ko sa personal loan na naman *hehe* but here's what the message said:
"Pued po b akong humingi ng 2long sa inyo? I'm Annamarie, 21yo fresh grad po from bacolod. Gagawin ko po ang lahat ng kapalit na gusto nio, ma2lungan nio lng po akong makapunta sa mynila. Im willing to take the risks. My job hiring na po kc ako jan sa smc-ortigas, sayang naman po kung madidissolve lng.. My picture po ako sa www.annamarie.cjb.net -Anna"
Okay.. so that was creepy. I was like, "who the heck is this girl and where did she get my number?" Eneweis, I showed the text to Jerick and Kuya Rick.. curious kasi ako puntahan yung site but I was scared dahil baka may virus or baka porn site sya or whatever :oP Kuya Rick tried it first pero natakot din sya kaya ni-close nya agad yung browser *haha* and then Jerick had the guts so we waited for the site to open.. at ito po ang bumungad sa amin..
Hmm.. in fairness pretty sya ha. Pero what's her deal ba talaga? Totoo kayang "angel in despair" sya and she needs help o isa lang itong scam? On top of that, does anna marie really exist or did someone na walang magawa just made up her identity? I tried to do some searching sa Google and I discovered another girl who experienced the same thing. Here's her comment in case you'd like to read it.
For me naman, I think she should not be doing this (if fact nga sya) kasi other people could take advantage. She may be in despair pero there are other ways naman para matupad yung dream nya. E anu naman kung may hiring na sya sa SMC.. hiring lang naman, hindi pa naman sya hired :oP And besides, there are lots of opportunities for her especially kung cumlaude sya. Saka why not ask for help from people she know.. yung mga tiga-school nya or hometown.. I'm sure may mga kakilala naman sya. At hindi rin ako makapaniwala na walang makuhang work sa bacolod (accdg. to her blog).. anu yun ghost town? However, kung fiction *slash* scam naman ito.. ambot sa imo (kung sino ka man) *wahe* :oP
tama.. ako rin feeling ko scam yan.. ang weird naman.. wala ba cyang mahanap na work sa bacolod? and besides, nagkaroon pa cya ng time para gumawa ng sarili nyang site and upload her picture hehe
yes indeed this is a scam, i too have been texted by this sweet voiced woman...sana mawala yang ganyan i almost got hooked in sending her money. i doubted when i told her i just send her an e ticket then she said she has a lot of things to carry so she opted to ask for money instead. i asked her how much is the fare she said 2.3k. i inquired for the fare from bacolod to manila and the fare is only 1.2k for ordinary, 1.8k for business and 2.4k for cabin. so i told her why coose cabin?? and she said she feels not safe in the ordinary. i almost got hooked and send her money so to all out there this is a scam.
i even contacted my friend whoi happens to be an executive at smc. wow there was no immediate hiring for it specialist. kaya most people dont trust things like this, they tend to abuse the use of the net...its a pity...
why dont we trap this woman, someone should send her money via lbc and someone should wait for her to claim the money, that way when she cliams the money we can cath her and put her stupidness to halt?? i have some contacts in bacolod so this would be a walk in the park if we would like to catch her..
Thank you for posting this warning for everyone to see. I am so very embarrasssed to admit it but I myself almost got conned.
I received 2 text messages from this girl. Taking pity on her plight, I even called her up and spoke with her. I agreed to send her thru LBC Php 5,000. And believe me, I agreed to help her absolutely with NO STRINGS ATTACHED (honest!).
During our phone conversation I simply asked her to not to receive money from anybody else, and just make sure that the money is devoted to good use.
The only thing stupid was, I did not care to investigate, perhaps because I live a very busy life.
Just this afternoon, at about 1:00, I sent the amount thru a nearby LBC outlet. Afterwards, I texted her the corresponding tracking number.
She replied and thanked me, saying “Thank you, thank you po. Umuulan pa dito…Ano po ang sender name nyo?”
What she just txted me raised my “scam alert.”
In spite of the fact that I had previously given her my name during our previous sms correspondences, why would she still have to ask for my name again–unless–there are others who are sending her money as well.
What did then is to fire-up a Google search for the name “Annamarie O. Velasco”–and woah–my jaw dropped when I saw this as well as all the other sites claiming that it was all a scam.
I was about to accept my fate that I was duped–until I recalled that she mentioned in her txt message that it was still raining at their place (”Umuulan pa dito…”). Realizing that, since not more than an hour had passed since I handed the money to LBC, and given the fact that it must be raining cats and dogs back there in Bacolod, there is still that probability that she had not yet claimed the amount that I had sent her.
I immediately rushed to the LBC outlet and then and there asked that the transaction be voided. FORTUNATELY I was informed that the money had not been claimed yet, and the full amount (no penalties) we refunded to me upon surrender of the receipt covering the transaction.
Thank goodness I was able to recover my money. Thank you for posting this warning to everyone.
Inasmuch as we should not become distrustful of our fellowmen, we should likewise exercise due diligence in our dealings with them.
Thus, the moral lesson is: WHEN IN DOUBT–GOOGLE IT!
it's funny how you can scam a scammer out of a scam... fact: they want money fast and easy so...why not make it the opposite? after i googled this name up, my trip-mode fired up. i told her that as a fellow lasallian, i would want to extend any help that i can give, and that i know people in san miguel..HR dept pa. so she told me a lil more of her story...a lil more detail. she also reiterated the fact that she'd risk anything just to make it for her "deadline"in san miguel. she then said that she only needed some transportation fare either by boat or plane...and to pick her up sa arrival. and then she offered to do her part of the deal kagad so she can concentrate on her interview. sabi ko don't worry about the interview...i have connections and asked her when she graduated. march daw...then i asked what position she applied for, sa IT dept daw...so i then asked when she submitted her application.......no reply.
in short, tinamad na kakasagot sa mga tanong ko. we exchanged a lot of text messages...i just really wanted to waste her/his time. i mean if you're for real, would you let go of that opportunity just like that??
it was fun though...sucked that it had to end. hehehe
Got the same msg when I was in Cebu last Wed. Just wondering how did she/he got to know my number or was just txting ramdomly any number?...Msg came pa @ 2:30am so woke me up...Kind of got a feeling this was a scam so I just ignored it...
..haha naku pati si igan emergency na i text n rin niya, nabuking na niya ngaun sa radyo program niya tinawagan nila mismo on the air..busy na ang cellphone na gamit..09154039462 e2 number na gamit ni anna marie velasco ang bagong scam lady!
i was actually just about to look at her website because apparently marie velasco (i think she changed her name to marie since people are on to her) has texted me about 3 times in the past 2 days. i'm glad i'm not alone when it comes to her annoying texts. her number with her texts to me is 09154350057.
grabe. pati tatay koo pina2lan tapos nanghihingi ng tulong.. KAHiT ANO DAW! INCLUDING HERSELF. fhokfhok ata toh ehh. as in ngayun lang.. DEC. 7, 11:02am ito # nia sken.. 09167855883.

I'm curious if this person can even speak Ilonggo. It's sort of tempting to call this person up and arrange a "meeting" here in Bacolod. (Sting operation with local police standing by to arrest the scammer, nyahaha!) Although an experienced con artist would probably evade such circumstances.
thanks for this warning. i received her message twice last night. i just replied this morning "i doubt na walang opportunity jan for a cum laude like you". well, just for curiosity, i searched her in the net. multiply, facebook, friendster, myspace and last in google! Well, just like what you have seen, that's it! It's all about ANNAMARIE VELASCO. Anyway, buti na lang, nag-research ako. Kawawa naman if ginagamit lang sya in this scam. But kung sya talaga, she'd better find a new trick! You're right, if you have doubt, GOOGLE IT!

eto n ang bgo nyang number my friend just rcvd 6 texts from her (0905-221-7933), nagriring xa if you try to call the number, madami cguro xa cellphone, haha!!!
hi, i received a txt from the same scammer 2 weeks ago & again last night & tonight.. I was curious, so i asked what she needed & she said just a fare to manila & a person to meet up with her, then she will do "her offer". Researched the web & found your link so here i am writing. I contact niya nalang channel 2 & 7 :P BTW, for everyones info ito yung bago niyang # - 639052216028
Wow, I received text on this too. And I'm from Bacolod pa naman and almost willing to help but then again, I smell something funny about the whole thing. Just one search on the net and got lots of results.
a. how can she afford to maintain a website if she's in dire need of money?
b. bakit SMC? i knew a lot of friends working there, most of them my batch mates and classmates during my mapua days. i asked a friend of mine about this. he said that if her credentials are really true, in some cases they arrange the transpo... yun ay kung iha-hire na siya... e applikante pa lang pala.
c. kakagraduate lang daw. So why the date is March 2008? ganda ng credentials mo tapos tambay ka ng isang taon? paging "ANNA MARIE", paki update naman yung mga papers mo... dun pa lang buko ka na sa mga keen eyed people.
d. with her credential, it's very impossible for her to be jobless in bacolod or anywhere else.
e. bakit ba pinipilit niya ang SMC? madami namang companies, not as big as SMC, that need people with that credentials.
g. kung sakali man makarating siya dito, because she don't have money and relatives of friends here, saan siya titira? alangan naman ipaghotel ko siya! or patira ko sa house ko? i don't know her at baka maloko pa ako king sakali ulit...
h. willing to give her self. daming mayayaman sa bacolod... kung totoo man yung sinasabi niya, with her looks, many rich men would "help" her...
i. May mga kaibigan at kamaganak ako sa bacolod... at least to verify if she's real or not. after insisting to meet her in bacolod, she stopped texting me.
j. It's an obvious scam targetting men with evil minds... notice that she always flaunts her Vital Stats and her "joining to beauty pagents for allowance" para ma proe niya na maganda siya. Swetre niya naman. kung yun ang bread and butter niya, does it mean na lagi siyang nananalo? swerte niya! daming tisay diyan sa bacolod... she's pretty, but her beauty is typical.
k. eto na ata ang pinaka kawawang tao.... it's very impossible that she doesn't have a single relative left... kung wala man, siguro naman her friends, nor the parents, or her professors would help her considering her credentials... sayang naman siya kung totoo yun.
l. ang alam ako, kung scholar ka ng government, isn't it that after graduation you will work for them for a few years to fulfill your obligation kasi ng pinagaral ka nila? kasi yung friend ko ganun e.
This girl is obviously a faker/ poser. Well crafted scam. She’s an intelligent scammer. She will ask you to send money via a bank account or money transfer (Western Union, LBC). Enough said about her. She is already being tracked by Anti Cybercrime Syndicate, a private group going after cyber-scammers. Her days are numbered!
If you have received a message in your cell phone from these numbers beware!!! 09052216028 09052217933 09052213787 09065165474 09154039462 09154350057 09159884255 09167855883 09166972482 09263963492 09272446053 09278112032 09276135063 09295622736

Just received a text from her form the same number as above yung 09276134785...same message. The website she uses now is www.mariev.cjb.net. Natakot yata baka hulihin siya. he he!
:D i told her to not text me kasi sabi ko kelangan ko din pera... :D hahaha wished her goodluck... then i tried to type sa yahoo... and she's running her scam again... same number sa taas pero new webpage... http://www.anvelasco.cjb.net/ ito na gamit niya... :D hahahaha in fairness ah demanding ang bruha... sunduin daw xa sa airport... :)) wahahahaha.... la nga ako koche...
does anyone know where they get the numbers? o random lang talaga?
heard the news on the radio, igan called her up on air...scammer talaga!
2 days ago my husband got a text message... and yeah, from MARIE VELASCO. same drama and all.... "puede po ba akong humingi ng tulong sa inyo? i'm MARIE, 21 y/o freshgrad po from bacolod city. gagawin ko po ang lahat ng kapalit na gusto nio, matulungan nyo lang po akong makapunta sa maynila. May job hiring na po kasi ako jan sa san mig-ortigas, sayang po kasi kung ma dissolve lang... Im willing to take the risks ng kapalit na hihingin nyo. un na lang talaga pag asa ko na makaluwas ka agad para mahabol deadline ko po... My pic and supporting docs po ako sa www.anvelasco.cjb.net-marie" we didn't pay much attention having the instinct na scam... then again this afternoon, got another text message from her: "name: marie velasco, birthdate: feb. 15. 1988,height:5'7",complexion:fair,hair: long and straight, other: joined some provincial pageants for allowance, course: bs information management (computer & accountancy),school: DOST scholar in university of st. lasalle-bacolod,parents: anna & mario velasco (both deceased) picture: www.anvelasco.cjb.net" so then i finally google the said name... and came to many links/site about her being a scammer.... some posts are way back december 2008.. ang tagal na pala nito... and up to now, gumagawa pa din sya ng kalokohan... !!! this is the number she's using now
She stopped texting after I replied to her Buko na ang scam mo. Google lang ang katapat mo. Mark my word, mahuhuli ka rin. And then I informed my classmate working at Globe to track her down and her identity. I'll report the feedback later on.
katatanggap ko lang ng message from marie velasco. marievelasco.tk naman ang site niya. nacurious naman ako at para makasigurado na walang virus yung site i google-d it nalang. at eto ang nakita ko. hay! salamat sa google! +639276135162 ang number na ginamit niya.
Text message as follows: Name: Marie Velasco Birthdate: Feb 15, 1988 Height: 5'7" Complexion: Fair Hair: Long & Straight Other: Joined some provincial pageants for allowance
Course: BS Information Management (Computer & Accountancy) School: DOST Scholar in University of St La Salle - Bacolod Parents: Anna & Mario Velasco (both deceased)
You can call Globe (dial 211) and report to them that there's a person you don't know who is texting you and asking for money (give them the name & the cell number). They will send her a warning that if she sends a text to your number again, her sim card will be rendered unusable/inoperable.
My friend is meeting her in bacolod. It so happened my friend has a cousin in bacolod near Mandalagan which is her given location. So he is going to go along with the scenario and meet her personally if she even bothers to show up. If she does and she really agrees to have sex, then he's gonna go for it. And she will get paid that I guarantee ! If she doesn't show up, it's her great loss, sorry sya !
Very simple safeguard for this kind of scam - MONEY DOWN - PANTY DOWN ! If she reeally is serious to earn money - just be an online prostitute. This is difficult to bust even for the NBI and PNP coz' there are only two witnesses, the client and the girl. Unless the law enforcers pose as clients then the girl may get busted, but knowing the kind of law enforcement we got nowadays, the girl would probably get her freedom for some extra extra service ! hahaha !

Hello. I got to this link through google when I got a text from the same girl her new number as of today Dec 06 2009 is 0916-557-1005 same modus operandi which means its working for her and she has not yet been caught and made to pay for her scams.
Mag-ingat tayong lahat sa mga mapansamantalang tao . . . . . . . lalo na ngayong Campaign period . .
hindi naman kasi puedeng mahuli yung scammer because wala namang written or whatsoever... walang puedeng maikaso jan,... so ang dapat lang talaga gawin jan... mag-ingat...
Just received the same textbago number nya +639157434187.. it seems she's gaining popularity by doing this, most probably it's not her intension to gain money or to fool someone but to have a popularity in this room as everyone is talking about her na.
EEEHHHH she's winning herself na nga.. anyway good luck to her .... all are watching you so beware...
Wow, this has been on going for a long time and yet the scammer seems to still be scathe free as she texted me twice already using this number: +63 916 557 0991. One, last Jan 23, 2010 and the other Jan 27. How can she get all our numbers?? BEWARE.
